OSICA Cards

OSICA Trading Card Game (オシカ) is a Japanese crossover TCG featuring characters, scenes, costumes, relationships, and memorable moments from officially licensed anime and game franchises. Published by Movic, OSICA launched in Japan on July 15, 2022 with products based on Laid-Back Camp. Players choose one favorite character, known as an “Oshi Character,” build a 60-card deck from the same licensed work, and use character appeals to take Hearts from the opponent.

OSICA is designed around the idea of playing with and strengthening a favorite anime character rather than summoning unrelated monsters from multiple franchises. Its Japanese product line includes booster packs, booster boxes, fixed Starter Decks, Character Cards, Support Cards, Event Cards, foil parallels, cast-signature designs, promotional cards, campaign rewards, sleeves, Limit Cards, and tournament prizes. Standard Japanese booster packs are officially priced at ¥440, while Starter Decks are generally priced at ¥1,000.

Popular OSICA Trading Card Game product types

OSICA products are suitable for beginners, competitive players, anime collectors, sealed-product collectors, and fans building a deck around one favorite character or series:

• Japanese Booster Packs: Standard OSICA booster packs contain eight randomly selected cards from a licensed anime or game title. Packs may include Character, Support, and Event Cards across regular, foil, parallel, and premium rarity treatments.
• Japanese Booster Boxes: One standard booster box contains 12 packs. Boxes provide more cards for deck construction and collecting, although one box does not guarantee every card, every playable strategy, or a particular SSR card.
• Starter Decks: Fixed constructed products containing 61 playable cards, including one card intended for use as the Oshi Character and a 60-card deck. Starter Decks also include first-player, second-player, and Limit Cards together with a rules sheet.
• Starter-Exclusive Cards: Each constructed deck may contain cards unavailable through the corresponding booster checklist. These cards can later be combined with booster cards from the same licensed work.
• Oshi Character Cards: Before the game begins, the player selects one Character Card as their Oshi. It begins face up in the Oshi Area and can be played in a similar way to a Character Card held in the player’s hand.
• Character Cards: The main playable cards placed in the Stage or Assist Area. They display a level, AP, card number, character name, artwork, abilities, Appeal-related text, and other title-specific mechanics.
• Support Cards: Cards placed in the Assist Area to provide continuing effects, Entry abilities, cost generation, draw support, protection, or synergy with particular characters.
• Event Cards: Tactical cards that can create immediate effects such as drawing, removing cards, modifying AP, recovering resources, protecting a character, or responding during the opponent’s turn.
• Limit Cards: Non-deck cards used to help players track their current Limit. They are commonly included as random booster-box bonuses and feature characters from the corresponding title.
• First-Player and Second-Player Cards: Reference cards used to identify turn order and support clear game setup. They are not placed in the 60-card Main Deck.
• Foil Parallel Cards: Alternate versions of regular gameplay cards using reflective processing, changed artwork, revised framing, metallic decoration, or another premium finish.
• Foil-Stamped Signature Cards: Selected Starter Deck and SSR cards reproduce signatures from Japanese cast members in metallic foil. These are printed signature designs rather than personally signed autographs.
• Hand-Signed Campaign Cards: Some product campaigns allow collectors to exchange accumulated points for cards genuinely signed by participating Japanese cast members. These are separate from mass-produced foil-stamped signature cards.
• Promotional Cards: PR cards are distributed through tournaments, teaching events, shop campaigns, product reservations, box or carton bonuses, official festivals, point exchanges, and other supported programs.
• Winner and Event Cards: Official OSICA competitions may distribute participation, winner, finalist, or event-specific card treatments unavailable in ordinary retail boosters.
• Single Cards: Individual Japanese OSICA cards help players obtain a specific character, card effect, rarity, foil treatment, promo, or deck component without opening additional packs.
• Official Card Sleeves: Movic’s Character Sleeve Collection includes 65-sleeve packs featuring central characters from each participating anime or game title.
• Storage and Display Accessories: Campaigns and official products may offer storage boxes, playmats, deck cases, card holders, and other accessories for protecting Japanese OSICA collections.

How OSICA Trading Card Game is played

• One Oshi and a 60-Card Deck: Each player chooses one Character Card as their Oshi Character and prepares a separate deck containing exactly 60 cards.
• Single-Title Construction: The Oshi Character and every card in the deck must belong to the same licensed anime or game work. Cards from unrelated OSICA titles cannot normally be mixed.
• Four-Copy Limit: The Oshi Character and deck combined may contain no more than four copies sharing the same card number or code. This means a deck may contain only three additional copies of the selected Oshi card.
• Heart-Based Victory: Players attack through character “Appeals” to take Hearts from the opponent. After the opponent reaches zero Hearts, taking another Heart wins the game.
• Deck-Out Victory: A player also wins immediately when the opponent’s deck reaches zero cards.
• Three Stage Positions: The Stage Area consists of Left, Center, and Right positions. Each position can normally hold one Character Card.
• Assist Area: Up to three Character or Support Cards may be placed in the Assist Area. Assist characters cannot Appeal or Guard but can provide abilities, Entry effects, and Yell symbols.
• Limit System: Stage characters have levels, and their combined level cannot exceed the player’s current Limit. The Limit normally increases during the Start Phase, allowing stronger formations as the game continues.
• Cost Area: Cards moved face down into the Cost Area provide resources used to play characters, supports, events, and abilities.
• Appeal Phase: Active Stage characters can Appeal one at a time. The opposing character directly in front of the attacker may Guard, or the opponent may allow the Appeal to reach their Hearts.
• AP Comparison: When a character Guards, AP values and card effects determine whether one of the characters is moved to the Drop Area.
• Limit Break: A player may place another copy of the same card over a character to perform a Limit Break for the turn. An appealing Limit-Broken character can take an additional Heart, while a Limit-Broken guard can reduce the number of Hearts taken.
• Yell Phase: Players reveal cards from the top of the deck according to the number of Yell symbols on their Stage and Assist cards. Revealed cards may be moved to the hand, Assist Area, or Cost Area according to the rules.
• Entry Abilities: Character and Support Cards with Entry text may activate when they enter the Stage or Assist Area through normal play or a Yell.
• Event Phase: Players can alternate playing Event Cards and Action abilities. Many events and Action effects may also be used during the opponent’s turn.
• Title-Specific Mechanics: Individual products may introduce keywords or rank systems designed to recreate the featured anime’s characters, powers, relationships, or story themes.

Popular OSICA characters & collection themes

Because OSICA is a crossover TCG with single-title deck construction, collectors often organize cards by anime, favorite character, cast member, costume, relationship, or rarity:

• Romantic-Comedy Heroines: Marin Kitagawa, Anna Yamada, Kaguya Shinomiya, Yui Yuigahama, Yukino Yukinoshita, Hana Uzaki, and other heroines appear through school outfits, casual clothing, seasonal scenes, and relationship-focused cards.
• Fantasy and Adventure Characters: Bell Cranel, Hestia, Ryu Lion, Alina Clover, Rias Gremory, Ryza, and other fantasy characters appear with battle effects, magic, equipment, monsters, guilds, and party relationships.
• Magical Girls and Supernatural Heroines: Madoka, Homura, Yuna Yuki, Momo Chiyoda, Shamiko, Tohru, Kanna, and other supernatural characters support transformation, ability, rank, and teamwork themes.
• Idols and Virtual Performers: Ai Hoshino, Ruby, Kana, MEM-cho, Miracle, Quan, and other entertainment-related characters appear through stage outfits, performances, training, photography, and fan-focused scenes.
• Slice-of-Life Characters: Nadeshiko, Rin, Dragon Maid characters, Stardust Telepath heroines, and other casts appeal to collectors who prefer relaxed daily-life artwork rather than only battle-focused cards.
• Character Pairings: Many cards highlight friendships, romantic relationships, sisters, teammates, rivals, families, school clubs, adventuring parties, and other character combinations.
• Seasonal Artwork: Swimsuits, summer festivals, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, New Year, school festivals, camping trips, café scenes, formalwear, and other seasonal themes appear across boosters and promos.
• Anime Scene Cards: Event and Support Cards frequently reproduce recognizable conversations, jokes, emotional developments, battles, transformations, performances, and story moments.
• Newly Designed Card Artwork: Products may include promotional illustrations, premium portraits, alternate designs, or treatments created specifically for the OSICA release.
• Voice Cast Collections: Collectors may focus on foil-stamped or genuinely signed cards connected to a particular Japanese performer across one or several OSICA titles.

Hot tie-in cards & special releases

• Foil-Stamped Cast Signatures: Most OSICA boosters contain extremely rare SSR cards carrying metallic reproductions of participating Japanese cast signatures.
• Starter Deck Signature Variants: A low percentage of Starter Decks replace a regular card with a premium foil-stamped cast-signature version.
• Special Non-Signature SSR Cards: Some licensed products, including SPY×FAMILY, use premium foil decoration without reproducing cast signatures.
• Hand-Signed Card Campaigns: Selected booster products include campaign points that can be collected and exchanged for genuine cast-autographed cards during the stated application period.
• Point Exchange Rewards: Product points may also be exchanged for foil promotional cards, card sets, storage boxes, and other officially licensed OSICA goods.
• Box Bonus Limit Cards: Each qualifying booster box commonly contains one randomly selected Limit Card featuring a central character from the set.
• Carton Bonus Promos: Recent booster cartons include one promotional parallel selected from a small title-specific lineup.
• Starter Deck Exclusives: Fixed decks contain cards that cannot normally be pulled from the matching booster packs.
• Reprint Support: Follow-up sets such as DanMachi IV Part 2, The Dangers in My Heart Part 2, and DanMachi V include cards intended to support or update previously released decks.
• Shop Tournament Cards: Officially supported Japanese card stores distribute participation and winner cards through regular OSICA events.
• National and Regional Events: Larger competitions, team events, tag events, anniversary events, and special matches provide event-specific cards and accessories.
• Beginner Sessions: Teaching events introduce the rules and may provide tutorial materials, loaner decks, or participation promos.
• Deck Museum Features: The official OSICA Deck Museum publishes sample and community deck lists for different characters and licensed titles.
• Character Sleeve Collections: New card releases are commonly supported by matching 65-sleeve packs featuring the main characters or deck themes.

Collectors should distinguish between regular booster cards, Rare Parallels, Super Rare cards, Super Rare+ cards, SSR signature cards, Starter-exclusive cards, box bonuses, carton promos, campaign rewards, tournament cards, and genuine autographs. Cards featuring the same character and card text may differ in artwork, surface processing, distribution, and collector availability.

OSICA Trading Card Game prices and rarity guide

Current Japanese retail pricing is generally consistent across standard releases:

• Japanese Booster Packs: One pack contains eight cards and has an official suggested retail price of ¥440.
• Japanese Booster Boxes: One box contains 12 packs and has an official suggested retail price of ¥5,280.
• Japanese Starter Decks: One fixed 61-card product has an official suggested retail price of ¥1,000.
• Current Character Sleeves: One pack contains 65 sleeves and is generally priced at ¥990.
• Earlier Character Sleeves: Older releases were originally priced at approximately ¥836 or ¥900 depending on the year and product wave.
• Campaign Products: Genuine autograph cards, storage boxes, playmats, and promo sets are obtained through separate point, event, or exchange conditions rather than normal retail pricing.

The exact checklist differs by licensed title, but common OSICA card classifications include:

• Normal: Standard cards forming the foundation of Character, Support, and Event card pools.
• Rare: Cards with lower inclusion frequency, more prominent characters, or stronger and more specialized effects.
• Rare Parallel: Alternate versions of Rare cards using a foil surface, changed design, or premium presentation.
• Super Rare: Higher-rarity foil cards commonly featuring central characters, important abilities, or character-focused artwork.
• Super Rare+: Premium parallel treatments positioned above standard Super Rare cards in selected products.
• SSR — Super Special Rare: Some of the highest-rarity cards in a booster. SSR cards commonly feature premium foil processing and foil-stamped cast signatures, although the exact treatment depends on the license.
• Starter Cards: Fixed cards created for Starter Decks. Selected Starter Cards also have rare premium signature or special-foil versions.
• PR — Promotional: Cards distributed outside normal booster collation through events, boxes, cartons, campaigns, shops, teaching sessions, and tournaments.
• Parallel Promo Cards: Alternate-design or alternate-processing promotional cards using the same gameplay text as another card.
• Hand-Signed Campaign Cards: Genuine cast autographs obtained through official point campaigns rather than ordinary pack rarity.
• Winner and Placement Cards: Special versions awarded through supported competitive events.
• Limit Cards: Collectible game aids featuring character artwork. Limit Cards are not playable deck cards and should not be treated as ordinary card rarity.
• Point Cards: Campaign items randomly inserted in products. They are used for official exchanges and are not playable cards.

Rarity names, signed-card availability, campaign requirements, box bonuses, and card counts may differ between titles. Buyers should verify the exact card number, suffix, artwork, treatment, signature type, and product source before assuming that two versions are identical.

Individual OSICA card prices may be influenced by the featured anime, character, rarity, artwork, foil treatment, signature type, competitive usefulness, card condition, product age, campaign availability, cast popularity, grading, and collector demand. A signed-design, SSR, promotional, winner, discontinued, or hand-signed card is not guaranteed to retain or increase its resale value. Prices may vary depending on product type, rarity, manufacturer, and release status.

Japanese vs English OSICA Trading Card Game cards

As of August 6, 2026, OSICA’s official product catalog, rules, card database, booster schedule, and organized-play program are centered on Japanese-language products. A complete commercial English edition with equivalent English booster boxes, Starter Decks, and tournament support has not been announced.

• Japanese Card Text: Official cards use Japanese character names, effects, keywords, title references, flavor text, and game terminology.
• Japanese Product Packaging: Booster boxes, Starter Decks, campaign materials, Limit Cards, sleeves, and promotional products are created for the Japanese market.
• No Complete English Product Line: English fan translations, deck guides, and community rule references should not be described as officially printed English OSICA cards.
• Original Japanese Presentation: Japanese cards preserve the domestic anime titles, character-name order, cast branding, dialogue, and artwork presentation.
• Single-Title Compatibility: Language does not change the deck rule. All cards in one deck must still belong to the same OSICA-licensed work.
• Japanese Event Support: Official tournaments, special matches, anniversary events, team competitions, and shop events are primarily held in Japan.
• Japan-Market Promotions: Box promos, carton cards, autograph campaigns, point rewards, tournament cards, and official store events may be difficult to obtain through ordinary international distribution.
• Reading Requirements: International players who cannot read Japanese may need translated references or the assistance of someone familiar with OSICA terminology.
• Rules and Text Updates: The official Japanese website publishes card corrections, prohibited-card information, and rule changes. Players should check the latest text rather than relying only on an older printed card.
• Different from Other Anime TCGs: OSICA cards cannot be used in Weiß Schwarz, Build Divide, Precious Memories, Rebirth for you, Lycee Overture, Union Arena, or another crossover card game merely because the same anime appears in both systems.
• Collector Recommendation: Japanese OSICA cards are currently the primary official choice for collectors seeking complete booster lines, Starter Decks, original packaging, premium cast-signature cards, and campaign releases.

Collectors who value original Japanese text, anime-specific deck construction, foil-stamped cast signatures, character-focused strategies, and Japan-distributed campaign cards may prefer Japanese OSICA products. Beginners should generally start with a fixed Starter Deck and then add compatible booster cards from the same licensed title.
