Description

The Fujimi 1/700 No.041 IJN Carrier Shokaku 1941 Plastic Model is a standard edition kit that captures the balanced first ship of the Shokaku class among Japan's large aircraft carriers. The kit is an unpainted, adhesive-assembly model at 1/700 scale and represents a waterline configuration without the hull bottom. It is molded mainly in grey so modelers can enjoy painting and assembling step by step. The standard version uses a minimal number of parts for easy construction.

This kit depicts Shokaku as she appeared around the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941. The carrier was completed at Yokosuka Naval Arsenal in August 1941 and formed the 5th Carrier Division with her sister ship Zuikaku. Shokaku took part in the Pearl Harbor attack and later experienced the first carrier-versus-carrier battle at the Coral Sea. The model features wartime details such as no radar and a 94-type high-angle fire control unit on the bridge, with markings for the flight deck as of December 1941. Six carrier aircraft are included: two each of the Zero fighter, Type 99 dive bomber, and Type 97 torpedo bomber.
