Shokaku took part in the Pearl Harbor attack and later experienced the first carrier-versus-carrier battle at the Coral Sea. The model features wartime details such as no radar and a 94-type high-angle fire control unit on the bridge, with markings for the flight deck as of December 1941. Six carrier aircraft are included: two each of the Zero fighter, Type 99 dive bomber, and Type 97 torpedo bomber.
